Good Morning All. Todays blog post isn't textiles related. I thought I would share a short story I wrote called "Mystery At The Cat Shelter". I hope you enjoy reading this short story as much as I enjoyed writing this short story. As you can tell I am more then just a Textiles Artist. I have many different sides to me. Textiles is one side to me. Writing is another side to me.
Mystery
at the Cat shelter
Kelly Fungai worked at the
local cat shelter, well actually the only cat shelter in Victoria BC a place
that only took In cats. She loved absolutely loved working at the cat shelter
and loved spending all of her working time with cats, she loved cuddling cats
and listening to them purr. I guess you could call her a crazy crazy cat lady.
The funny thing though was that she didn’t own any cats. In fact she didn’t own
any pets at all. Well one morning she arrived to work and all the cuddly
purring cats had disappeared. Where were the cats? Where had the cats gone?
Where had the cats disappeared to? These were all questions Kelly Fungai was
wondering. She decided she must be dreaming so she closed her eyes. When she
opened her eyes there were still no cats around. Oh dear what was Kelly Fungai
going to do now? Soon enough the cat shelter would be flooded with customers
coming in throughout the day and what was she supposed to tell them? That the
cats had magically all disappeared? She didn’t feel that the customers would
buy that story. Well I will have to keep the cat shelter closed until I can
figure out what happened to all of that cats said Kelly Fungai to herself.
Kelly Fungai made herself a coffee and sat down in her office at the cat
shelter with her cup of coffee, a pen and a notebook wondering what she should
do. She sat there and drank her coffee and then she ended up drifting off to
sleep. When she awoke she was not in Victoria, British Columbia any longer but
at that moment she had no clue and didn’t realize that. She wasn’t sure how
long she had been sleeping for but she had the need to stretch. So up stood
Kelly. She took a nice long stretch and then decided she needed to step outside
and get some fresh air. Outside stepped Kelly and she gasped in shocked. Her
head started to spin and she began to feel all dizzy. She quickly walked back
into the cat shelter, shut and locked the door and went to make another cup of
coffee. Once she had her second cup of coffee in hand she went back to her
office, locked her office door and sat down in her chair. I must be dreaming thought Kelly Fungai to
herself. I am still in Victoria, BC not in some strange land I don’t know. She
drank her second cup of coffee and fell asleep. It seemed like hours that she
had been asleep when she awoke with a start to hearing someone banging on the
front door. She unlocked her office door and went to the front door to see a
man outside banging on the door. To her he had a frantic look in his eyes so
she was hesitant to unlock the door. Who are you and what do you wanted shouted
Kelly Fungai from inside the cat shelter. From outside the man yelled I am
Simon Stickle and I need to tell you about this land that you are in because I
was at one time in your position. You need to let me in first though. Do I
trust him thought Kelly Fungai to herself and the answer that came into her
head was yes I trust him. So she unlocked the door and ushered Simon Stickle
into the cat shelter locking the door behind him. She then on instinct made
sure to draw all the blinds so that nobody could see into the building. Then
she ushered Simon Stickle into her office again locking the door after them.
Alright we are all alone what do you have to tell me asked Kelly Fungai. Simon
Stickle looked at her and said you are in a land called City of Cats. Here in
this land cats rule the world and humans are treated like slaves. How did I end
up here asked Kelly and where are the cats from the shelter? That said Simon
Stickle is a mystery which I am trying to figure out. Maybe we can join forces
and solve this mystery together.
If you
are wanting to find out what happened next you will have to wait until the next
story comes out.
The
End
